The morning after a heavy snow storm
It is the morning after a heavy snow storm. Despite the -20 degrees and 1m fresh powder snow the day feels crisp, quiet and deep with peace. Cheers

Lac de Fenêtre - Fresh Air

Well, I started the day with the idea to visit some small lakes at Furka Pass but the road was already closed (winter season). Nevertheless, there are other lakes around and that's why I decided to take the motorail train and headed towards Vallis. Upps, my second approach failed because the Grimsel Pass was closed as well. Ok - why shouldn't I go to Val Ferret and visit the Lac de Fenêtre? Four hours later I was there and enjoyed the last sunlight. It was so peaceful - the snow was frozen and air ... lets put it that way .. freshhhhh. So, the autumn season is definitely over and two of the three lakes are already covered with cat ice.

Winter is ... back again ;-)

We got some snow during the night and this was an ideal moment to get up bright and early. It was a wonderful moment to walk over the snow-covered wilderness – so peaceful.
I left nothing behind … beside my footprints ;-)
Enjoy it.

Glaced Frost and first Canon 1ds Mark III field report

A very cold and long-lasting fog episode was the art creator of the scene above. And by the way, it was also my first outdoor mission with my brand new Canon 1ds Mark III. After waiting for months I was really positively surprised about the new further developed handling of the 1ds Mark III. More information on the display is available and straight forward manipulations (for example the ISO setting) are now possible.
The battery which is 50% lighter than the old Canon 1ds Mark II did a perfect job. I was for nearly 4 hours by -15 degree Celsius in the backyard and made about 250 long time exposures. The newly introduced battery state of charge indicator showed me a remaining battery life of about 75% and that’s not bad.
Well that’s for now but more will come ;-) Have a great weekend.
